Igloovik is an exciting, unique, fast-moving story about an Inuit or Eskimo boy who is not only a great hunter, but also becomes one of the best long-distance runners in America. The story centres around Igloovik and his beautiful younger sister Sheena. While hunting on the Arctic ice with Earl, his large black powerful husky lead dog, they face a polar bear rushing directly towards them.

Later, by a miracle of miracles, when hunting alone again with his seven dogs, he meets a young American couple in the middle of a vast, remote, cold white wilderness. Rolly and Roseann Wagoner, from Lincoln, Nebraska, are seeking adventure in the North – and they find it!

The lives of Igloovik, Sheena, their family, the people of the village, and Rose and Rolly would never be the same again. The meeting of north and south produced a bond of unity for the people of Arctic Bay, returned life to the beloved Sheena and gave future direction to Igloovik. The book reaches a final climax as Igloovik starts a running career at the high school in Inuvik.

Eventually, Igloovik will go south to fame and fortune under one of the best running coaches in North America. The small village of Arctic Bay via Inuvik will be placed on the map of the world as the home of a very famous runner … but that is another story!
